They have beaked snouts and mane of “hair” (hair-like psuedofeathers,) but they also have very primitive features like four-fingered hands and four-toed feet. Harpies have a proportionally large brain and an upright tail-less posture to balance their large heads. They have a natural language talent that makes them particularly valueable when trained as interpretors, allowing harpy centered cultures to maintain larger, more loosely connected civilizations. Individual Harpy languages tend to be extremely complex and almost impossible to understand by other anthrosaur races. Since the Harpy vocal ability is capable of easily producing such an unnaturally wide variety of sounds, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly how Harpies sound different from the other Anthrosaurs, other than that they sometimes pronounce the words of other races's languages with exaggerated clarity. Since they do not have special hearing abilities, any super high or low pitched verbal communications by other races sometimes escapes the Harpies. Harpies have blunt nails on their hands and feet, so when fighting unarmed they must rely on grappling or blunt strikes with the hands and other body parts. Male Harpies tend to have more facial hair then the females, who usually have almost no eyebrows or sideburns. The males tend to have more body hair in general than the females. Also, female Harpies tend to have thinner waists and wider hips than the males. Copyright © 1997 - 2003 Seth Galbraith and Benjamin Galbraith |
