Protaea![]() According to legend, the world of Protaea is an ancient prison colony, transformed into a living world from a lifeless rock by condemned criminals. The planet's cratered surface does seem to indicate that this world did not always have an atmosphere that would support life Protaea has one large continent cut in half by the valley of the river Utopia running from the north to the southwest. Both poles are covered in permanent continent-sized masses of ice. The Panthallasic Sea is the huge ocean that surrounds the entire world. Some parts of the sea are dotted with island archipelagos where Traders and Pirates make their homes. RegionsThe Empire of Utopia was created long ago to unite the three Harpy kingdoms that formed along the river Utopia. These monarchies were replaced by a democratic government and a system of judges. The Badlands is an area outside of the influence of Utopia. The rough terrain of the Badlands is covered in deserts and forests. Small kingdoms and isolated villages are scattered throughout the Badlands. At the edge of Utopian influence is a fertile region criss-crossed by the tributaries of the river Utopia. This is the Frontier, a volatile area where Utopians and Badlanders both do business and compete for territory and resources. The Islands of the Panthallasic are sparsely inhabited, usually by traders who choose these remote locations for their home ports - out of the reach of Badlanders and meddling Utopians Protaea ~ Protaean People ~ Protaean Things Copyright © 1997 - 2001 Seth Galbraith and Benjamin Galbraith |
